“The Gift of a Book”
Sitting here as the world goes by
As you go by
Nobody notices
No one sees me
Just a book in my hands.
But I notice
I see you
I see the world for what it is and what it could be
Because of this book in my hands.
I’ve traveled the world
Solved the toughest mysteries
And dived to the deepest of seas,
I’ve journeyed through the stars
Battled warlords and orcs
And flown to the highest mountain peak.
There’s nowhere I haven’t been, and no place I cannot go
because of this book in my hands.
I see the world for the adventures that could be and the dreams yet to be realized,
And I see you, though you don’t see me.
Here,
Take this book from my hands
And let your eyes be opened and your imagination take flight.
I found this creative photo on 1000bookmarks.tumbler. I just got back from my trip several days ago, and it hasn’t been easy getting back into the swing of things, which is why I haven’t posted this week until now. But what better way to get back into the blogging groove than with a poem? 😉
How is your summer so far? Have you gone on any fun trips, whether it be through books or the average way?

A beautiful description of what it is to read and be a reader. 🙂

So beautiful! And a cool picture too. 🙂 As for fun trips, the average way 😛 …We’ll be going to my grandma’s in SD for a weekend. Kind of like a mini family reunion, because my cousins are going too. How was your trip? 🙂

Thank you! A trip to SD sounds fun, and making it a family reunion sounds even better! I hope you have a wonderful time there, Madeline.
My time in IL was good! I got to see my grandma every day and take her out to lunch (and to Dairy Queen, heehee), and stay with a best buddy who also wants to publish one day. 🙂 I’ll have to write up a post and share some photos!

Great poem! I had my trip to NYC and Philly but you know about that haha. I’m taking two more trips in October, one for a wedding and one to visit friends.

A trip in October sounds so fun! Will you be driving, so you can admire all the autumn colors on the way?
