Hello, fellow readers and writers! I hope this spring season has found you well. Here the biting black flies are out, making it difficult to stay outdoors long. But despite that, me and my mother did still manage to plant flowers in the barrel for Mother’s Day. š
So here’s a quick update through April to May: The two hiatuses I took earlier helped my writing progress immensely. I now have just 70 pages to go through before Strayborn is ready to be sent off for its final proofread!
In my last monthly update, I mentioned two short story contests I was planning to enter. Well, I did enter them both, and the results came in. In the Rooglewood Press contest, my story sadly did not win a place. However, in the ASF short story contest…
I made it into the top 10! Which means my story will be included in the ASF anthology that will be published later in the year. *Woot woot!*
Talk about getting one let down only to get a sudden lift up soon after. š For the full results of the ASF Contest, click here.
As for reading, I’m finishing up the last book in The Iron King fae series, and I’m almost through The Sword of Summer, Magnus Chase series. It’s the first Rick Riordan book I’ve read, and the humor has made it such a fun read. I might have to venture into The Lightning Thief series next. š Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments!
That’s all the news for now. I hope you have a wonderful week of diving into books and the stories within their pages.
Congrats on being a finalist! You get to be in a collection, that is awesome!

Yay! Congrats on the ASF short story news! It’s always thrilling, and extremely gratifying, when a place accepts your work for publication. š
Is it awful that I’ve never read a single Rick Riordan book? I really should at some point. I’ve seen bits and pieces of the two Lightning Thief movies, but I’ve been told the books are much better.

Thank you! It was the boost of confidence I needed. I’ll let you know when it’s available to purchase. I’m looking forward to reading the other stories in this collection. š
I know the feeling! I waited so long to read one. But better late than never, right? š And good to know the books are better than the movies!
