“Greed”

Beautiful ruby
Beware what greed manifests
The jewel’s curse spreads.

“Dare Not Touch”

The waves were a curse,
She watched their beauty sadly
As her life flame swayed.
Water cannot touch
Her fairy heart made of flames,
Though she longs for it.
Longing for its cool
Relief from the burning pain,
Its sheltering wet.
Maybe, just maybe
She should take a chance and try…
Dip just one finger…

  1. Very nice! I like how you extended the second haiku beyond the typical three lines but maintained its syllabic structure. And how she decides to “take the plunge” so to speak and reach for the water – it makes you wonder what happens next. 🙂
