Both Lauren Gunter, and Rachael Ritchey tagged me for these fun questions, (thank you!) so let’s get started!
Rachael’s Questions:
1. If you lived in a house made of jello, what flavor would it be? Any particular reason?
My brain is automatically thinking orange. They taste best during the winter, and even though it’s technically “spring” there’s still snow on the ground outside my window, which means winter and oranges are on the mind. 😛 (Btw, that house would not last long. I’d eat the whole thing.)
2. What is your first reaction when someone knocks on your door?
“Eep! Do I have on makeup? Is my hair behaving? I better get out of these sweatpants!”
3. Does a blue sky or blue ocean make you happier? Why?
Blue sky, but it’s more interesting when there’s a few clouds mixed in. My dad used to forecast weather, so I grew up fascinated by clouds and storms.
4. If you were out enjoying a beautiful day and suddenly it started raining, what would you do?
Hide under the nearest tree or pavilion and watch it rain! I was in Paris years ago and the weather switched from sunny to rain non-stop throughout the day, as if someone were pressing a switch. I liked light rain, so I had fun with it, but it really was crazy. 🙂
5. Whose name makes you smile as soon as you hear it? Care to share why?
If you mean smile in a loving way, then the name Jesus fills me with happiness and gratefulness, because He saved a sinner like me.
If you mean smile as in laughter, then Puddleglum (a character by CS Lewis) does the trick! Puddleglum, Puddleglum—that’s just too fun to say! And the character himself is a hoot, if you’ve read The Silver Chair.
6. Dog, cat, fish, or rabbit?
I love animals, but they are not easy to take care of. So I would choose the easiest ones, which I’m thinking would be cats and fish. My family has two cats and I love them to pieces. I used to have fish, but they didn’t live long and that made me sad. We had a dog, and she was a blast, but so hard to take care of and give her the time and play she needed. Never had a rabbit…
7. What’s your favorite mode of travel?
Road tripping! You really get to explore the land, and it feels like a journey. Though trains are a close second—especially those that take you through the mountains! I have this memory of a train ride through Austria, Europe. My family sat in our own little cabin room, and it was during the winter, and we were driving through a snowstorm in the mountains. I will never forget the stark white mountains towering all around us, and the dense pine trees layered in snow, and the snowflakes filling the sky like little cotton balls and sticking to the cabin window…
8. If you had to stay up all night by yourself in a deserted building, what would you spend the time doing?
First of all, that’s creepy! Secondly, I would lock the door and barricade it, and then hunt for movies (preferably not horror, since I’d be freaked out enough already)! I don’t think I’d get much sleep that night…
9. Running in the rain or running in the gym? (even if you don’t run! ha!)
Ha! I don’t run, but if I did, running in the rain sounds more fun and freeing than in a gym! Water splashing in your face, the smell of damp earth in your nose, the feel of stomping through puddles, the sound of birds and humans crying as they seek shelter…
10. To stand alone on a mountain peak or dance in a crowded club?
Really depends on if the mountain is Everest (in which case I’d freeze to death and not be happy one bit), or if the club is so wild and crazy that I’d get trampled. If it’s a tropical mountain, then I’d love it! Or a fancy waltz club or one of those Victorian-era styled clubs, then yes! 😉
11. Who do you write for?
Hmmm, it’s a balance between writing for myself and writing for the readers. But I don’t write what I’m not emotionally invested in just for the sake of pleasing others, because it would be garbage if I did! But I don’t write just for me, because no one else would be able to enjoy it. So, it’s a 50/50 balance. I choose a topic I am invested in, and then write in a way that others can enjoy it too.
Lauren’s Questions:
If you could live inside the world of a book, which would it be and why?
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, I bet you know the answer. 😉 It would definitely be LOTR’s Middle Earth, either Rivendell or Lothlorien. Do I even need to say why? Who out there wants to come join me? Raise your hand!
What’s your favorite movie or movie series?
Obviously and unashamedly Lord of the Rings! Though close seconds would be Avatar and Harry Potter.
Do you prefer standalone novels or book series?
Book series. I rarely read standalones, because I want to get to know the characters more and more, journey through their world more and more, and be fully immersed in the story!
What’s the oldest song you’ve ever listened to?
Lol, I don’t keep track, so I’m not sure what is the “oldest” song I’ve ever heard, but an old one I hear around the Halloween season is Rockwell’s Somebody’s Watching Me. XD
Country quiet or city scene?
I go back and forth. Too much quiet is too much quiet. Too much city is, well, too much city.
Who’s your favorite comic strip character?
Calvin and Hobbes!
Can the movie ever be better than the book?
Sometimes. If it adds more depth and detail where the book may have lacked (which rarely happens). Howl’s Moving Castle book and movie are equally great, but the movie “shows” you Sophie’s physical transformation in a way that the book can’t, and so gives a new depth to the story.
Fairy tales or super heroes?
Fairy tales—both the Disney ones and the Brothers Grimm ones. Though I can’t resist me some Avengers and Loki mischief, too!
Is there life on Mars?
Meep. Notta. Nothin’. But can you blame anyone? Mars isn’t exactly a dream home.
What’s the best book you’ve read lately?
This Savage Song was my first V. Schwab read. Her writing style is a perfect balance of “show” vs “tell,” and let’s the reader figure things out for themselves. The book does have violence, cursing and monsters, so it’s not for everyone.
Cold or warm weather fiend?
I want warm weather! It’s cold where I live and winter is long, so warm weather is a treat. You can be outside and everything is green! (Is there a word for people who suffer from lack of a summer season? Because we have that up here in the north.)

How serendipitous was that? I saw the blue sky tag and Rachael’s name and thought this should be an intersting get to know the blogger type of thing and there I am… listed as an unexpected nomination. How awesome is that on the very same day the sky outside is coincidently blue? Thank you for that, it means a great deal to be thought of given my respite from blogging of late… which is rather pants of me! Excellent answers too, although I feel unable to use Puddleglum now…a shame really as it does nothing but draw a smile just saying it!
As for the LOTR question…I was rather hoping for a which wizard option too 🤔 Tricky one there methinks…
Enjoyable read E, looking forward to responding 😊

Serendipitous, indeed! 🙂 It’s been all rain and clouds here. I’m glad this tag brought you a blue sky! (who knew it had such powers?)
Puddleglum would be thrilled with all the puddles outside my window…
Hmm, perhaps it could be a hobbit turned wizard? Can hobbits, elves, and whatnot become wizards, I wonder?
Looking forward to reading your answers, Gary! 🙂

Very much so! Pretty similar weather here too. Although I am told it should be rather pleasant next week! So that should be a good time to reciprocate the blue sky tag! Bit behind of late as I’ve trialled a few author spotlights and it seems I have two more in the pipeline, with a third who I’m certain will be up for it! Could be a new blog thing which will actually tie in with writing!!
As I recall mixed classes can do assorted sorcery in RPG circles…not sure about LOTR though…but it rather makes the question more intriguing. Hopefully I will do this post this coming week 😊

I almost laughed a couple of times when I read this so good job ❤ (I feel patronoizing telling people: "good job" 😀 )

Go for it! I’d love to read your answers!
Making people laugh is one of my goals. 😉
(Lol, I feel that way telling people that, too. XD I’ve tried “well done!” but I think it comes across the same way)

Ooh, what a fun tag!! And I definitely think it would be a tie if I had to choose between fairytale or superhero. Such a hard chose!! XD
Thanks so much for the tag! ^_^
