“Tough Life” & “Growing Up” #poems

haiku, poem, poetry, fantasy, E Rawls

I took this prompt from a previous week. 🙂 Haiku for RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Challenge–a fun activity and contest that is open for everyone to participate, and helps keep our creative writer’s mind active! This week’s words are: Time & Grow.

“Tough Life”
The wheels of time turn
You must learn and grow, or fail,
—The life of an orc.
~
“Growing Up”
Growing, reaching, our
Leaves unfurl towards the sun,
With time, we blossom.

I normally don’t post haiku on Mondays, but I felt like being spontaneous today! 😉

How to read a haiku as 2 separate sentences:
The wheels of time turn, you must learn and grow, or fail.
You must learn and grow, or fail—the life of an orc.

  1. I also like the second haiku a lot. There’s a lot of truth in it, since we as individuals grow that way, unfurling slowly as we age and learn until we blossom fully for the world to see. And the image fits the insight nicely. 🙂
