May was easier-going than April. After that fall, my foot is doing much better now; almost back to normal except for the injured bump on the side, lol.
May and June so far have been all about getting my WIP ready, as I’d really like to publish it next spring. This includes drafting up a book cover and creating a website for the series. Two tasks that are proving more difficult than I anticipated. I do have some ideas now, but they will have to be tested first before anything is finalized. It is a lot of trial and error, at the moment. *wipes brow* Other than that, and getting the garden and flower barrel ready for summer, not much happened life-wise in May. I’m a boring person sometimes. 😛
This post is part of the Monthly Wrap-up Round-up link up! Here are my results for May 2016:
WRITING
Writing Progress: “V. Chronicles”
I am currently revising Draft #4, and am on page 128 out of 239 on my 8×11 Word doc! I am waaay overdue for a Behind The Scenes post, it just hasn’t been easy finding time. But I will have to post it soon as I have an exciting announcement to make!
Those of you who have been following my blog for a long time might remember how much trouble I was having coming up with a proper title for this WIP. Well, it finally has a title! I am thrilled! I’ll announce it to you all in the next Behind The Scenes Post. 🙂 Newsletter subscribes will get to hear it first, so keep checking your email inbox!
The #BlogBattle
The serial series Madnes Solver has been posting twice a month, according to the BlogBattle’s new schedule. The story is currently going through The Floating Isles Arc.
On The Blog
I joined a new link-up meme, #Weeklysmile. And #FishingForAnswers has been very insightful each Friday.
Some noteworthy and fun posts this month have been:
- “Quest” & “That Treat You Want” #Haiku
- “Wolf by Wolf” Book Review
- “Captive Hope” Book Review
- Do You Like Your Heroes Rare, Medium, Or Well-done? #FishingForAnswers
- A Barrel of Fun #WeeklySmile
READING
Book reviews I hope to get to this month:
- Cinder by Marissa Meyer
- Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Stay tuned. 😉
MOVIES
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies just came out for rent, and it’s…well, words can’t describe it. The title alone says it all, lol. The humor was fitting for a zombie movie, and surprisingly the story plot was carried along well and reminded me very much of the original Pride and Prejudice (except for the undead, of course). And the fight between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth was epic! During the scene when he first proposes to her, acting like a complete pompous jerk, in this movie she throws books at him and takes up a sword and gives him what-for! It was truly hilarious. If you watch nothing else of the movie, at least see this scene. XD
THINGS TO COME
I’m going to change up my blogging schedule a little bit. Here’s what I’ll try for this month:
- Monday: Weeklysmile
- every-other Tuesday: Blogbattle
- Thursday & Saturday (when available): reviews/tags/guests/other
- every-other Friday: Fishing for answers
If it’s too confusing, you can always press the “Follow” button, which will notify you whenever a new blog post is posted. 🙂
How was your May? Any plans for June?

Thank you, Gregory! I have, haha, I’m going to cut back to 2 posts a week, and once in a while 3. 🙂 How are things going on your end?

Sounds like a good idea! 🙂 I’m okay, thanks, just finished updating my novella on Createspace and republishing. After doing my Editing Diploma, I’ve realised the ‘professional’ edit of Vastian Lore wasn’t really up to scratch. Now, I’m back to my novel, Oath of God! 😀

That’s great to hear! I’m looking forward to reading Vastian Lore in my tbr pile!

That’s fantastic. Could I just ask, when you got your version of Vastian Lore, as I have just re-edited both the ebook and paperback (which is currently under review)? Despite, the book being professionaly edited, after I did my Editing Diploma, I went through the story and realised there were still mistakes!! 😦

I actually haven’t purchased it yet, but it’s waiting on my list! Hopefully that means I’ll get the newest version?

Definitely! Or you could get a free paperback, if you’re interested? I have 5 free, signed copies to giveaway! (well, 4 now, I got my first request yesterday, lol) 🙂 Just let me know…

Free paperback? If it’s the revised edition, yes, I’d love one please! ❤ That's awesome!

Hey, there’s nothing wrong with having a “slow” period in your offline life. Sometimes it’s good to not be busy. I’m actually trying to keep a lot off my plate at the moment so I can relax and enjoy the summer as much as I can before it gets crazy again in August.
Sounds like things are coming along on your WIP! I can’t wait to hear what the new title is. 😉
I’m really not a fan of the classic retellings with paranormal / creature twists. They just don’t interest me. I remember telling a friend a couple years ago, “They better not touch Jane Eyre!” And now there’s Jane Slayre. *grumbles*

My mom reminded me that we’re already half-way through summer, and I was like “Did you really have to remind me of that?” XD
Yes, enjoy the calm before the crazy comes, I agree!
Yay, I’m excited to share it! I was planning to this week but then the computer I do most of my blogging on needs fixing, and I have to do posts for the Silmarillion Awards still, haha. I will find time though, sometime. I’m determined to! 😀
LOL, Jane Slayer? Hadn’t heard of that one! Will it become a movie too?
What did you think of the Pride and Prejudice Zombie clip here? 😀

The Silmarillion Awards are keeping me busy otherwise I would’ve had it up by now. Sorry about that! It will happen though. 🙂

Thank you, Phoenixgrey! It’s actually quite busy now with the Silmarillion Awards, so it’s a good thing I didn’t plan too many other things. 🙂
Yay, I hope you’ll like it! 🙂

I need to check out the Silmarillion Awards! I’ve been so busy these last few weeks that I haven’t been keeping up with blogs the way I want to. But it ends on Tuesday. I should then have a relatively easy couple of months!

No worries, you have until the end of Friday to vote. 🙂 I’m glad things will be easier after Tuesday. Were things busy because of summer?

The business has been because of the courses I’m potentially starting in September. I had to do some revision for an entrance test. Just passed the second one though. So, so far so good. 🙂
I will make the Silmarillion awards a priority.

That’s good to hear you passed the second one. 🙂 Do you have all your courses planned out now? Sounds like September will be an exciting time. 🙂

Yes, all courses are on the go. In theory. Just some financial stuff to sort, but otherwise, they should both start in September. 🙂

step by step… and the goal is almost reached! ;).
By the way, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” sounds interesting… I am very intrigued about it now. I will keep that one in mind. Sending best wishes. Aquileana ⭐

Glad to hear your foot is doing better! They take SOOO long to heal, don’t they?
It’s also nice to know that someone had a (fairly) relaxing month! What are you planting? I have only ever had major success with squash (of every variety – I guess we get along).
P & P with Zombies wasn’t for everyone, but it was pretty funny! And Matt Smith’s Mr. Collins was hysterical. I also loved the fights scenes, lol.
Hopefully your June is going well, and you are getting a lot done (keep plugging away at that WIP!!)
Cheers – <3RH

They do, it’s CRAZY! I walked down the beach last weekend and it started hurting again, argh, so I guess it doesn’t like long walks. 🙂
I have herbs and lots of decorative plants and flowers this time. The herbs are…well…let’s just say they aren’t in an edible state at the moment. XD The flowers look nice though! 😀 No veggie plants this year, but tomatos and peas have worked in the past.
Mr. Collins, lol! I laughed so hard that they chose Doctor Who to play that role!
Haha, it’s gotten busy now with the Simarillion Awards going, so I’m glad I didn’t set any plans in stone yet! I’m still plug-plug-plugging away at that WIP too. 🙂 Likewise, I hope yours is coming along well. ❤
