My haikus for RonovanWrites Weekly Haiku Challenge–a fun activity and contest that is open for everyone to participate, and helps keep our creative writer’s mind active! This week’s words are: Tight & Warm.
“Blanket”
Longing for spring’s warmth
Tree fairy hugs the blanket,
Tight against cold fear.
~
“Careful”
Sword hilt tight in hand
Warm blood runs down to the grass,
Painful accident.

Ooh, I really enjoyed these! I went through wakas, tankas, and haikus in my literature class pretty recently! I had to write a few, too, though I’m afraid I’m not at all very good at them. 😛 Very nice, these ones!

Thank you so much, Natasha! I admit I didn’t know much about haikus until I joined the challenge last year. They take some getting used to to write. 🙂 I haven’t tried wakas or tankas. Are they similar to haikus?

Yeah, I only just properly learned about them a couple of weeks ago. 😛 And yes, they are. The waka is the Japanese long poem, with alternating lines of five and seven. The tanka came after that, with a pattern of 5-7-5-7-7. The haiku is a more recent developments, which took the 5-7-5 from the tanka.

The Japanese long poem sounds like more of a challenge. About how long are they? I might try one sometime. Have you posted any of the ones you’ve written?

Oh, no, I’ve never tried a waka! I’ve written a tanka, though, maybe two. No, I haven’t. I don’t think they’re anywhere near good enough for that. And my curriculum didn’t give a particular length, just the alternating lines of five and seven syllables. I think it’s as long as you like, but don’t quote me on that.

One of these weeks we should write some for #BlogBattle. 😀

Well, if you’ll do it, I’ll do it! Mine probably won’t be very good, but I’ll try! 😛

Yes! Let’s do a spring-themed waka for April! Maybe April 5th?

Okay, I’ll try! 😀

Yay!
I hope it doesn’t snow while we’re writing about spring, lol. I keep hearing rumors of coming snow storms *ugh*

o.o Snow? I haven’t heard about any snow coming! But then I live in Maryland, so that might explain it.

Wahhh?! You haven’t been hit by those depressing snow storms yet? Hmm, maybe I should move…

Nope, sure haven’t! It’s colder than it had been, but I think it was at least in the fifties yesterday!

waaaaaah, so jealous! Snow just welted away today, but I hear more weather mess is coming! Noooooooooo~

Ah, yeah! It’s been getting colder around home. But I’ve gone to visit some friends farther north, and it snowed last night, so there’s some over here too.

Snow struck there too, now? This spring is becoming quite a snowtastropy.

Haha, right? Our snow was brief, though. It followed us down south for a few flurries, then disappeared. It’s still cold here, but it’s not snowing. 😄

I can identify with the first one. I too am waiting for spring’s warmth. And the second makes me wince – the last line kind of twists it from an image of a battle to, well, what it says, an accident. Is it the holder of the sword that’s hurt though, or someone else? Wonderful. 🙂

It just snowed today, making spring feel further and further away *sigh*. It is a scary question: did the accident happen to the wielder or someone else? I’m not sure which I’d rather it be… Thanks for reading. 🙂

We’ve had hail here. Not very spring-like. I join you in that *sigh*.

Hail is destructive! How bad was it?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Not that bad, and I was inside at the time, so escaped the worst. It’s now decided to rain non-stop. Where is my spring?

I’m with Phoenix on the first haiku; I know how the tree fairy feels. Hopefully she’ll feel warmer soon enough.
That second one, though. Ooof. Are you sure it was an accident? Because it sounds pretty painful… 😉

That poor tree fairy just endured another day of snow today *Brrrr!* Spring, where art thou?
Oooh, I’d hope it wasn’t on purpose. Then again, you never know. 😉

Hey, next week is supposed to be fairly warm for the most part! So maybe the tree fairy will feel warm enough to fly? 🙂

The tree fairy was warmer than sunshine and happier than a bumbling bee today! 😀 70 degrees, ohhhh yeahhhh! (if only it’d last through the weekend…)

I know!!! Wasn’t it gorgeous on Wednesday? I made sure to take my lunch break walk outside. It felt like spring. 🙂 And I bet the tree fairy was elated!

Yes, the tree fairy is elated. 😉 This weekend was nice too! But a friend came up from Virginia telling me how hot it already is there, and I can’t help but feel jealous. 😀
