Here October is the month of colorful leaves, pumpkins, and the spooky and scary. This author has been enjoying it, and is sad to watch the month come to a close as November draws near. Then again, that means Thanksgiving is on it’s way, and lots of delicious food—and that’s not a bad thing. 😉
Here is a short overview of all that happened this October, on the blog and in offline life—This post is also a part of the Monthly Wrap-up Round-up link up. 🙂
WRITING
WIP Progress
My writing style has changed drastically from what it once was years ago when I first began writing. Within just this year alone I’ve learned more and grown as a writer, but perhaps the hardest thing has been finding the right writing style that is “me.” We all have our own unique style, but for some of us it can take longer to fully find and develope it. It’s taken me up until Draft #3 to find mine and reach a point where I’m now satisfied with it. That is one of the reasons why editing has taken me so long this 3rd round.
A big influence has been reading: Coming across several writing styles that reflected how I wanted my story to be told. This influence has allowed me to bring Draft #3’s writing to life in a way that wasn’t previously there, and made me adore my WIP’s story all over again.
Tip: If you find yourself tiring of your WIP, and ready to throw it aside or in the trash, ask yourself if the writing style can be changed into something more engaging and fresh. A new writing style may be all that it needs for you to love your WIP again! 🙂

The #BlogBattle
The blog series Madnes Solver is on its 26th chapter. If you haven’t read it yet, you can still catch up! A world of fantasy, steampunk, and mystery awaits…
BLOGGISH THINGS
Don’t forget to check out the Author/Writer Guide page, full of great writing and marketing articles, tips and guides that I’ve collected over the past few years.
A few noteworthy and fun posts this month have been
Welcome To October and Autumn,
Vampire Flying Frog: Yes It’s Real,
Burdens & Chocolate Longing.
READING
I finished Snow Like Ashes, and posted a review. It was an enjoyable read, though not quite 5-stars for me. Have you read the book? What did you think of it?
MOVIES
The Others: If you’re looking for a movie that will haunt you this Halloween, this movie is sure to do it! No gore, but a high mystery and creepy level! I don’t want to give any hints or clues and spoil it for you, so that’s all I will say for now. 😉
Hotel Transylvania 2: It was fun seeing the characters back for another story, and a good movie for kids. I enjoyed the first half, had a lot of laughs, although the climax and ending felt lacking. I think they could have done a better job story/plot wise, but kids will likely have a blast watching it anyway. And the new “baby” is adorable—That hair, lol!
THINGS TO COME
Lots of tags and awards to get to, more haikus and Madnes Solver to write, and…hmm… What would you like to see more of here on the blog? I would love to hear your thoughts! 🙂 And I’d also like to know how your October was?

Hmm, my October was full of meltdowns over prepping for NaNoWriMo. Aside from that, busy, but good. I can’t believe there’s been 26 Madness Solver chapters already. My, how time has flown by!

Prepping meltdowns, ah, I understand your pain! How is your NaNo story coming along so far?
I know right? So many Blog Battles we’ve done. I can’t believe how many we have written!

NaNo story is coming along. Not well. But not bad. I’ve started. Which is a victory. Do you do NaNo? (I’m tired so forgive me if I should know this.)

I will hand you a boost of *virtual energy*. Starting a story is a victory–every word written down is a victory; keep at it.
I haven’t done NaNo. I’m sinking under the turmoil that is “editing” of my Fantasy novel, so I haven’t time to work on anything else. Maybe next year!

Ooh, virtual energy is just what I need right now! Got another 1000 words to write yet tonight. *suppresses yawn*
I’m heading into editing/rewrites in December.
Try not to sink too far.:)

Sadly my good blogging friends like E Rawls are not appearing on my WP reader anymore so I am getting E Rawls withdrawal. Sounds like it was productive! I had lots of meltdowns in October too 🙂

Whaaat? I’m not on your WP reader? *tears* Maybe I’ve been a bit blog-lazy lately. It’s tough keeping up with everything, but I shall try and give you more E Rawls. 🙂 Oh meltdowns are lots of fun. 😛

Thank you, BBFF! x Let me know if it’s working again. It must be WordPress’ fault, a glitch or something.

Yes! No meltdowns! That in itself is a great accomplishment. I admit I may have had 1 or 2, but much better than previous months, lol. 🙂

Gee, why did so many of us have a stressful October? I’m kind of glad that month is over, too, and I hope November is much kinder.
I agree with you on writing style. Achieving one that’s consistent and unique to you is one of the hardest things to do for a novel. I’m glad to hear you’ve found yours, though. Keep up the good work, E.! 😉

Yes, let’s hope for a good November! 😀 Although with Thanksgiving, it tends to be quite busy… X)
Thanks, Sara! It took a long time for me to reach this point. I will try to keep up that good work! 😉
