D.A.Y and N.I.G.H.T Book Tag #amreading

I was tagged by lovely author Rachael Ritchey for this fun Day and Night reader’s blog tag! I’m finally getting around to doing this and other tags and awards, taking a little break from editing so I can do something else for a change. 🙂 Thank you for tagging me, Rachael ! ❤ Okay, now for me to answer some questions about my reading life and love of books!

D: Do you read more in the morning or at night?

I read whenever I have time for it. Day or night. As long as the room I’m in isn’t too loud and distracting for my mind to dive inside the book’s story! 🙂

A: Are there any books that changed the way you thought about things?

When I was little I read several books of the History Mysteries series (The Smuggler’s Treasure was my fave). It changed the way I thought about American history and made it more real for me beyond school textbooks. I highly recommend them for children and tweens. 🙂

Brian Jacques Redwall series gave me a new perspective on war and battles, and taught me the rules of strategy, and how weapons are made, kept intact, and used, and even how to care for boats/ships and sail through oceans and treacherous waters! When I lived in Italy it was really cool to then go and see these Medieval weapons, fortresses, castles, deep dungeons, the Mediterranean Sea, and history that so many books and stories like Redwall are inspired by. (The series has violence, so recommended for ages 14+).

And when I was a young, little reader, I adored The Unicorns of Balinor series—which I also recommend for young readers. They first introduced me to the world of fantasy tucked inside books, a world I didn’t know existed before, and helped make my imagination soar and dream big!

But most of all reading the Bible for myself—just me, no one else around—reading God’s history and getting to know Him changed me. It made me realize my best friend has been there for me all along, I just needed to turn to Him and place my hand in His.

Y: YA or not?

For me it just depends on the book. If it sounds like a good story (and doesn’t have frustrating love triangles or too much drama ;P) then I’ll read it. 🙂

A: Are there any characters you honestly believe to be real?

Haha, lol! Well, in their “book world” they are real, but sadly they can’t hop on over to our world. There are characters I wish were real! Cosmic Hunter would make an awesome real person. 😉 The Weasley brothers, lol! Nymia would be cool, too. I won’t get into TV characters though—there are quite a few! 😉 Charries in the series I’m writing would be awesome too, but they’d probably hunt me down for all the things I’ve put them through, heheh.

N: Nobody borrows my books or I don’t mind lending them out?

Depends. If I trust that the person will take good care of them (no spilling of coffee or food or losing them at some random place 🙂 ) then I don’t mind.

D: Do you ever smell your books?

XD Maybe. Sometimes. Okay, okay, sometimes I do! Especially if it’s a very old book. Mmm, old books have that musky scent of knowledge within their pages… Okay, it’s getting weird now. Moving on!

N: Not everyone likes books, is this a positive or a negative?

*tears spill down weeping face* It’s so sad! They don’t know what they’re missing out on! All the knowledge you gain, worlds you visit, things you learn about people…books can teach us a lot. For me especially the Bible. However, I won’t blame a person for not wanting to read books. I have several good friends who hate reading. But I think if they gave a book a try, in a genre they’re interested in, they could enjoy it.

I: I keep my books in the best condition or maybe not? Which are you?

Eep! Yes, I admit I like keeping them in the best condition I can. But I’m like that with a lot of things. It could be because everything in northern Italy was so nice and well kept (our neighbors’ homes were immaculate!) so I never want to ruin anything, haha.

G: Gosh I have too many books! True or False?

Oh my! When is this not true? Have you seen my TBR list? If that’s any clue, I have just as many paperback books filling my shelves. I collect every book in a series too, so that makes it even worse, haha!

H: Have you ever spilled or stained your books before with something, and if so how?

Hmmm, I don’t think I have. I usually don’t eat while I read, and I get too involved in the story to notice my cup of coffee going cold…

T: Toned or untoned while reading? . . or in other words. . .Do you read and workout at the same time?

😀 Most of the time I do! Yeah, I’m a crazy person, sorry. ;P But it helps me save time by doing two things at once. And it gives me something to do while I ride the stationary bike—otherwise I’d be bored and get tired out too fast. 😉

Okay! I now tag Sara Letourneau to complete this challenge, and anyone with a variation of the word write in their website name! This was fun to do. Thanks again for nominating me, Rachael! I have some more fun blog things to do, so stay tuned, my friends. I hope this brought you a few good laughs. Have a nice rest of the day! 🙂

  1. 😀 Thanks for tagging me, Elizabeth! I might not get to this for a while, since I was also recently nominated for two other tags (eeeek!). But once I’ve gotten through those and some deadline-oriented posts, I’ll definitely do this.

Normally I’d comment on the answers… But then that would give away my answers. 😉

  2. People who don’t like books.. how could they not? I can’t imagine living and not reading. How small their world must be. 😦 I enjoyed reading this post, though it’s now made me want to read, but I don’t have time now. (I have to go bake cakes.) And how cool would Cosmic Hunter be as a real person? I would so have to meet him. 🙂

  3. OH MAN, if the Weasely brothers were real… well… life would be a lot more interesting *cough, chaotic* 😀

I read while I workout, too! I’ve never used a stationery bike but that sounds really cool! I usually read 3-4 paragraphs, do 10 sit-ups, read 3-4 paragraphs, push-ups, etc etc. This was a fun way to know more about yoooooooooooou 😀

    • Haha, we need the Weasely brothers! 😀
I guess there are all sorts of ways to fit in exercise while reading, sweet! I should do sit-ups and stuff, I really should…I need to make myself motivated to do it. X) I’m glad you enjoyed reading this, Lily!
